We at First National Bank of Wamego are proud of our long heritage in this community. Wamego is in the 3rd fastest growing area of Kansas, located in the fertile Kansas River valley and surrounded by the lush prairie known as the Flint Hills. With Manhattan and Kansas State University 14 miles west, Topeka and the State Capitol 34 miles east and Interstate 70 only nine miles south, Wamego is conveniently located to some of the state’s major cities and attractions.
Our bank, First National Bank of Wamego, was chartered in 1876. In 1972 the bank had outgrown its location at the corner of 5th and Lincoln, its home for over 70 years, and moved west one-half block to a new, larger, more modern building. In the early 90's more space was needed so the data processing and bookkeeping departments were moved to the building north. In 1991 a branch bank was started in eastern Manhattan and in 1999 a branch was opened in Alma, 14 miles south of Wamego.
Through the years First National Bank of Wamego has worked to stay on the leading edge of technology. Today the bank offers all types of checking and savings accounts, loan programs, online banking, safety deposit boxes, and ATM’s located in Alma, Wamego, and Manhattan. First National Bank of Wamego now offers 24-hour service and is constantly enhancing its customer services.
